Review: Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-In-One BB Cream

Saturday 30 June 2012 15:23

Today I have another review for you, as I promised to let you all know my thoughts on Garnier's BB cream! The one I own is the original one, as I know they recently brought out a BB cream specifically targeted at oily/combination skin for the same price. The product's full name is 'Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-In-One Blemish Balm Cream', which is a bit of a mouthful so I will just refer to it as BB cream! I have it in the shade 'light/clair' but it also comes in a medium shade.

For those of you who might not know what a BB cream is, it is basically a hybrid product that lies between make-up (ie. foundation) and skin care. BB creams were actually developed in the 50's and have been a big thing in Asia for quite some time, now they have fascinated and excited us brits too! This particular BB cream claims to perfect skin by blurring imperfections and giving your skin a healthy glow, even tone and even reducing the appearance of fine lines. I am going to tell you how I have found it so far.

I turned to using this BB cream as my skin has been ridiculously dry recently and any foundation I try to apply just goes patchy and flaky instantly. I wanted an alternative that was lighter but still gave me some coverage and after trying tinted moisturisers and liking them, I though I would give the next best thing a try, BB cream. I decided on the Garnier one as it seemed to have mainly good reviews and I was impressed with the effects it claimed to have. In the image above you can see the consistency of it; it is quite thick, a little like foundation, but has a kind of wet, dewy finish to it. It blends in really easily to the skin and the dewy effect does stay on the skin, so if you have oily skin I am not sure how you would find it. With my awful dry skin, it is a godsend as it makes my skin look and feel so much healthier.

In the two images above, I have shown my skin before applying the BB cream (left) and after applying it (right). I have no other make-up on my face in either of the images so that you can see the effect it has clearly. I am really pleased with it, I think it makes me look a little healthier and it definitely does make you have a slight glow to your skin. The coverage isn't brilliant as I am sure you can see, but I find that when combined with a few dabs of concealer it has as good a coverage as foundations I have tried. It lasts throughout the day on me, but as I said earlier, it has a dewy finish so if you want a matte effect I recommend using a matte powder over it, as I do usually. As you can see in the picture, I am prone to break outs, but I find they are much better when using this as opposed to foundation, as it doesn't clog up my pores as foundation does. If I was to say the biggest benefit of using the product for me, it would be the fact that it almost 'wakes up' my skin, making it look less tired and perhaps more youthful.

It smells divine too, although it is a scent I struggle to describe! It feels like a luxury product to me so I would definitely recommend it, especially if you are looking for a lighter alternative to foundation for the summer. Garnier BB cream is usually £9.99 in most places, but is currently on offer for £7.49 at Superdrug, so now is a good time to buy!

    1. Thanks :). I was worried about it at first as it looked dark in the shop, but on my skin I found it was okay! I thought it had more of a yellow base than orange so that was probably why it didn't look too dark or orangey on my face!xxx

  3. I use this and love but I'm going to have to switch to the newer one for oily skin, it's slipping off horribly! Great review :-)

  4. I wear this one too in shade 'light' although I would normally purchase a medium as I'm Asian. I read a lot of bad reviews about the shades of the bb cream not matching and 'light' making people look orange. It's so odd that yours seems to match your face perfectly and I use the exact same colour and it matches me too! If you look at my profile pic you'll see that we have very different colour skin tones!

    1. Oh yeah, that is a little strange! It doesn't go orange at all on me, I wonder why! I do have quite a strange skin tone though, I'm not pale as such but not tanned, kind of in-between, which might explain it! It looks paler on camera :) xxx
