Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter: Peach Parfait

Wednesday 25 July 2012 13:37

L-R 'Candy Apple', 'Peach Parfait', 'Tutti Frutti', 'Sweet Tart'

The Revlon Colorburst lip butters are certainly no stranger to the beauty blogging world. It is a good few months since they hit the shelves here in the UK and it has taken me until now to finally own some of them! I know there have been thousands of reviews on this product already, but I found myself reading so many reviews to see what others thought of them and also to see which shades would best suit me- so hopefully this might help a few of you a little!

I actually have 4 of these now, in the shades 'Peach Parfait', 'Tutti Frutti', 'Candy Apple' and 'Sweet Tart'. I have decided to do a separate review for each shade as I have already found a huge difference between the textures/colours etc of each shade. I have chosen to review 'Peach Parfait post', as I have worn it the most.

For those of you who haven't heard of the Revlon lip butters (where have you been!?), I will do a brief introduction as to what they are and what Revlon says about them. The lip butters are supposed to be somewhere in between a lip balm and a lipstick, with a buttery texture that moisturises the lips and colour payoff relative to an ordinary lipstick- with a more glossy, shiny finish.

'Peach Parfait' is a peachy pink that looks much darker in the bullet (picture below) than it does when on the lips. It has quite large flecks of gold glitter throughout, which I know isn't for everybody and is something a great deal of bloggers have complained about within their reviews. Because of the glitter, 'Peach Parfait' doesn't glide on as smoothly as some of the other shades and it does feel a little gritty upon application. However, for me this isn't too much of a problem, as the beautiful colour outweighs any negatives! The pigmentation is impressive, although this shade is a little more sheer than some of the others I have tried.

This shade doesn't feel as moisturising as some of the others I have tried, although I must say it isn't drying either. When first applied, it does feel buttery and moist, though this wears off fairly quickly I have found. It doesn't matter too much though as you can simply reapply as often as you like (I tend to reapply this shade after a couple of hours), as I have done even without a mirror.

I must apologise for the off-center lip swatch- I am AWFUL at taking pictures of my lips, so this was the best I could do! As you can see, 'Peach Parfait' is quite a neutral shade on me with beautiful gold shimmer. I am a huge fan of this shade already and I feel this is perhaps the most neutral of the 4 shades I own. Although, I think it could be easily built up for a more dressy look as the gold glitter adds a certain something.

Revlon Colorburst lip butters are available in most Boots and Superdrug stores for £7.99 each, although often they are on 3-for-2 or other offers, so it is worth keeping a beady eye out. I actually got 3 of my shades in a trio set on buyapowa.com for around £13 and the fourth one I won on Revlon's UK Facebook page recently (Sweet Tart).

Thanks for reading and watch this space for reviews on the other 3 shades I own- 'Candy Apple', 'Sweet Tart' and 'Tutti Fruitti'!

  3. Great review! I haven't tried Peach Parfait, it seemed way too light for my skin tone. The colors I have are Pink Truffle (my favorite!), Red Velvet, Raspberry Pie, and Lollipop. The lip butters are amazing, especially for a drugstore product. I never get tired of reading reviews for it. :)

  9. Peach Parfait is my favorite color out of my lip butters, Im so sad because I haven't been able to find it anywhere.. And no worries about the pictures I have issues taking pictures of my lips too my boyfriend always looks at me like I'm crazy haha. It took me quite awhile but the key is always have the lips facing a light source...preferably natural lighting and I always have a mirror behind my camera so I can see what Im taking a picture of :)

Check out my beauty blog if you get a chance and follow me if you'd like. Im a new follower of yours I can't wait to see more posts!
