EcoTools Bamboo 6 Piece Eye Brush Set: Review

Monday 17 September 2012 15:30

Today's post is another review! This time of my first full eye brush set, the EcoTools 6 piece eye brush set. For years I have been using eyeshadow brushes that came free with palettes or in Christmas sets- mostly cheap ones that shed like crazy and that aren't the best to work with. After my birthday I had a bit of money to spend and though a good eyeshadow brush set would be a good investment, as I wear eyeshadow almost every day!

EcoTools are a company famed for their earth-friendly products, which are made of natural and recycled materials and are completely anti-animal cruelty which is fabulous. This brush set comes with 5 brushes- a blend brush, crease brush, highlight brush, shade brush and a smudge brush, all wrapped up in a handy natural cotton and hemp case.

The brushes themselves are just perfect, just so soft and easy to work with. They have bamboo handles and the bristles are made of soft taklon (a synthetic material). I find that it is almost impossible to be heavy handed when using these brushes, which is great as you can easily build up your look without much shadow fallout. My only (tiny) criticism of the set is that I find the crease brush a tiny bit too big, which can make me a bit clumsy when applying my crease colours to my lids. However, this might be perfect for someone else looking for a good thick crease brush. The brushes are shaped perfectly for each of their uses and are clearly labelled on the handle so that you can find the brush you need quickly and easily. I use the shade brush the most to put on my all-over lid colour, the crease one for my crease (you don't say!) and the blend brush to merge all the shades together and blend them out. I do of course use the other two, just a little less than the others.

I have had them around a month now (that's why they look a bit used in the pictures, sorry!) and can safely say that they don't shed! They are excellent quality for the price.

You can purchase this set from Boots for £14.99, although look out for deals as I have seen them in 3-for-2 offers from time to time!

What are your go-to eyeshadow brushes?

  1. Loved your review! I'm thinking of getting this brush set but not too sure about the crease brush, looks quite difficult to use. Would you say any of the brushes in the set could also do as a crease brush? :) xoxo

    1. Thank you! I would probably suggest the shade or highlight brushes, either are a good enough size to use for crease :) xxx

    1. No problem! I do use the crease brush, just find that it would perhaps be a little better if it was smaller :) xxx
