L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks: Review and Swatches

'Implusive Fuschia' and 'Rebel Red'

I've got another review for you all today, this time of a product I am very new to but have already fallen completely in love with; the LOreal Paris Rouge Caresse Lipsticks. I first came across these months ago, just before the Revlon Lip Butters were released in the UK as people were hailing these as LOreal's take on the lip butter formula. However, I have found them to be very different from the Revlon Lip Butters and I will let you know my thoughts on the shades I have and how I'd rate them in comparison.

The shades I own are 401 'Rebel Red' and 202 'Impulsive Fuchsia'. I went for these shades as I feel that reds suit me morn than any other colours and I can never resist a bright pink shade!

202 'Impulsive Fuchsia'

401 'Rebel Red'

Firstly, I love the packaging. There is something about it that gives the lipsticks a high end look, they look quite luxurious and stylish. I really like the fact that you can see the shade through the partially see-through lid and also through the fun metallic coloured end to the lids.

The formula of these lipsticks is like no other. They are so smooth to apply and they have a balm-like texture, but they feel much more solid and sturdy than the lip butters (2 out of 4 of my Revlon Lip Butters have completely melted then reformed- eek). I wasn't expecting them to be all that moisturising, but they actually are! They are perhaps the least drying lipsticks I have ever tried, even as the balm started to wear off throughout the day.

The pigmentation is comparable to the Revlon Lip Butters. The colour applies quite sheer, but is definitely buildable. For me, I find the fuchsia shade to be a little more pigmented than the red shade. The colour lasts a long time too, even though the balmy texture gradually wears off throughout the day. I do find I have to reapply every few hours or so, especially after eating; but this is super easy as their texture are sheer colour mean that even without a mirror you can reapply quickly.

I have swatched the shades I have on my hand and my lips below for you (excuse my unruly break-out prone skin!):

To conclude this post, I have found a new everyday lipstick (or two!). The shades I own are so perfect as the colours are bright, but also subtle enough to wear every day. As you can see, they have a gorgeous glossy finish which I just adore. I have only owned these a few days but already know that I prefer them to my Revlon Lip Butters (but I do still love those too!). I will definitely expand my collection whenever I can manage to grow a money tree!

I bought my LOreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks from Boots for £7.99 each, but they are currently included in the Boots 3 for 2 offer so grab a bargain while you can.

What do you think to the Rouge Caresse lipsticks? How do you think they compare to the Revlon Lip Butters?

  2. I own the colour 'cheeky magenta'. It's also a bright pink, but I just love it, even for a day look.
