L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick in 'Aphrodite Scarlet'

As you might remember, a few months ago I blogged a review of the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks in the shades 'Impulsive Fuchsia' and 'Rebel Red, which you can read here. I loved them so much that I thought I would try and build up my collection a little if I got the chance, so here is the latest addition to my make-up drawer- the shade 'Aphrodite Scarlet'. I won't talk too much about the lipsticks in general as I did a full review in the post I mentioned; I will focus on the shade more than anything.

As you can see, 'Aphrodite Scarlet' is a gorgeous pearly pink shade with red tones when applied and swatched, even though it looks more red in the packaging. I thought that this shade would be a little more pigmented than it is, as to me the word 'Scarlet' makes me think of a dramatic and deep colour; but in this case the shade is fairly sheer. However, I actually really like it for that reason! I think that as it is a lovely sheer tone, it makes the perfect 'my lips but better' shade, great for wearing every day.

As with the first two shades of the Rouge Caresse lipsticks I tried, the formula is fantastic. It glides on like a balm, feels moisturising, all whilst providing a gorgeous subtle wash of colour. Another triumph for L'Oreal in my eyes!

You can buy the Rouge Caresse lipsticks from Boots for £8.19.

What do you think to the Rouge Caresse lipsticks? Which other shades would you recommend?

  6. What a pretty colour! It looks much darker in the bullet, but definitely a colour I would wear judging from the swatch. x
