Soap and Glory: 'Crazy Sexy Kohl' Review and Swatches

Monday, 11 February 2013 18:58

Today's post is going to be a review of a gift set I received for Christmas, which is the Crazy Sexy Kohl eyeliner and eyeshadow set from Soap and Glory. I know that the set cost £18 before Christmas and that it was available in most Boots stores- although I believe it only comes out as a part of the Christmas gift selection. However, I know that the 'Superblack' and 'Cocoa Bean' eyeliners are available as part of the permanent collection at the S&G make-up stand for £5 each and I do believe the eyeshadows can be found in some of the 'Lid Stuff' palettes too. I was lucky enough to receive mine as a present from my Mum and Step Dad for Christmas and I have used it so often since then.

L-R: Superblack, Cocoa Bean, Aquabat, Blue My Mind, Grapevine

As you can see, the tin contains 5 Smoulder Kohl waterproof eyeliner pencils and 3 single eyeshadow pans. The packaging is gorgeous, with the bright pink vintage style we are used to seeing in all S&G products. The black plastic holding everything in place can be removed if you want to reuse the tin for something. The only downside to this product in my opinion is the fact that the eyeshadows can't be removed, but this could be seen as a good thing if you like to keep everything together in one place.

The pigmentation of the Smoulder Kohl liners is absolutely fantastic. They glide on really smoothly without dragging your eyelid and their creamy texture makes it easy to smudge out for a smoky look. The staying power is also pretty good- particularly on the upper lash line. My favourite way to wear these for an everyday look is with 'Superblack' on my waterline and any of the other shades on my upper lash line. All of the colours are wearable for everyday I feel, although 'Aquabat' is perhaps the most daring.

Eyshadows L-R: Dandy Plum, Aubersheen, Smokin'

The eyeshadows are also absolutely perfect for everyday wear. The colours are all really wearable but can be built up and blended for a more dramatic, smoky eye look. Their lasting power is great, particularly with a good primer underneath (I use Urban Decay Primer Potion in 'Original').

The shades of the eyeshadows are beautiful and the photograph doesn't do them justice. 'Dandy Plum' is my favourite, as it can be used sparingly for an everyday look, or built up and paired with 'Superblack' eyeliner for a gorgeous dramatic look.

So there you have it! What do you think? Have you tried any Soap and Glory make-up products?
