Today's post is a look at the two foundations I have been reaching for the most out of my collection- Estée Lauder Double Wear and Double Wear Light. I bought them both discounted from work within a fairly short space of time a few months ago and since then I've used them almost every day. I'd heard rave reviews about both foundations and I was eager to see if they lived up to the hype.
I bought Double Wear in a shade '1N2 Ecru', which is quite a pale shade. In hind sight I think I might have been better going for a slightly darker shade, but it does give a really natural finish. I bought Double Wear Light in the shade 'Intensity 2.0', which is a darker shade that seems to match my skin tone that little bit better.
L-R: Double Wear in '1N2 Ecru' and Double Wear Light in 'Intesity 2.0'
The first major difference between the two foundations is the packaging. Double Wear comes in a heavy glass bottle with a screw top and Double Wear Light comes in a plastic ;squeezy' tube. Out of the two I prefer the light packaging as it makes it easier to get the right amount of product out, whereas I always end up putting a little too much of the product onto the back of my hand when using Double Wear's glass bottle.
The second difference between the two foundations is the texture. As you would expect, Double Wear Light has a lighter, slightly more liquid texture than the Double Wear. Double Wear is that little bit thicker, which results in a higher coverage. The coverage of Double Wear Light is perfect for every day, it evens out my skin tone and doesn't feel heavy on the skin. Double Wear also feels nice on the skin but the coverage is much higher, which makes it the perfect foundation for evenings out.
I have found that both foundations last all day, there isn't a noticeable difference in staying power at all. I always set both foundations with a powder as I have particularly oily skin, but if you are blessed with normal skin I think you could forego powder altogether. Both have added SPF10 which makes them great for the Summer months.
Full price both foundations are around the £30 mark, but I would pay that for both of them in a heartbeat. None of the high street/drugstore foundations I have tried can match up to either of the Double Wear foundations in my eyes!
What do you think? Have you tried either of these?
