L'Oreal Infallible Matte Max Lipstick ReviewSunday, 20 March 2016 12:00
In the last few weeks there seem to have been so many exciting high street make-up launches. Today's post is a review of one of the new offerings from L'Oreal- their Infallible Matte Max Lipsticks.
Matte lipsticks are all the rage at the moment and the trend doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. I am completely hooked on matte lipsticks and will jump at the chance to try any new formulas. When I spotted these in Boots last week I knew I had to try them, especially as L'Oreal make-up was on 3-for-2. With this in mind I bought two shades of these lipsticks and a foundation, which I will talk about in a separate post.
The first thing that drew me to these new lipsticks was the packaging. I love the clear colour indicator at the end that clearly shows the name of the shade and what to expect inside. From the outside they look like ordinary lip pencils, but when you open them up you see that they are anything but ordinary. The caps twist off to reveal what I can only describe as a sponge applicator that you would usually see used for eyeshadows.
I wondered how easy it would be to get a defined lip shape using these strange applicators, but I was really pleasantly surprised. The sponge tip is really gentle and makes it easy to dab the colour onto your lips. The product itself comes out of the sponge applicator, which makes it impossible to apply too much product at once. The one thing I would say is that you do have to work to cover your lips evenly with the lipstick, dabbing it on gradually to build up the colour.
The texture is quite dry, but not necessarily drying on the lips. It doesn't feel at all wet, I could barely feel the lipstick on my lips once applied.
The staying power is second to none. It literally does not budge! Now this can be both a blessing and a curse. I love that it stays on the lips throughout the day with minimal touch-ups, but I don't like how difficult this makes it to remove!
L-R- 'I Gotta Feeling' and 'Say My Name'

The shades I picked were 'Say My Name' and 'I Got a Feeling'. 'Say My Name' is a gorgeous wearable red that isn't too bold- definitely something I would wear even to work. 'I Gotta Feeling' looks like a scary bold purple on the applicator, but it actually applies as a soft pinky purple that is much more subtle than you would first think. I absolutely love it, despite it being a shade I wouldn't normally go for!
The L'Oreal Infallible Matte Max Lipsticks are £6.99 each which I think is reasonable. You can buy them from Boots here. I am definitely a big fan!
What do you think? Have you tried these? Which shades do you have your eye on?
