Today's post is a review of the NYX HD Photogenic concealer. NYX has taken the UK by storm since becoming more readily available in the last year or so and I have certainly joined the fan club myself. When it comes to concealer I have always been very difficult to please as I have quite a lot of acne scarring that can be difficult to cover effectively. I've often tried concealers that are too cakey, too dry or just ones that don't cover anything at all. When I purchased this offering from NYX, I hadn't read any reviews beforehand and I chose it because it looked similar to my trusty Collection concealer (a cult blogging classic!) and it wasn' too pricey at £5.50.
This concealer has a creamy liquid texture that is definitely comparing to the Collection Lasting Finish concealer, also using the doe foot applicator. The consistency isn't too thick so it is easy to apply and blend, but it isn't too runny either, allowing it to give great coverage. The applicator makes it easy to apply to any blemishes and under the eyes, to cover any problem areas.
The concealer does set quite quickly so I find that to get the best results you have to blend fairly soon after dabbing to on, but once it does set it stays put all day. I use it over the top of my foundation and find it really helps to cover any red areas. My only slight concern is that it can cling a little to the little creases under my eyes, but luckily I don't tend to need much in the way of concealer under my eyes. However, if you do like a concealer that is a good all-rounder, there might be better ones out there for you.
One of the things that annoys me about the Collection Lasting Finish concealer is the fact that the tube gets really messy, with the product running over the top of the bottle and making a mess around the lid. I have found that this doesn't happen with the NYX HD Photogenic concealer, which is a huge plus!
The shade range is fantastic, which is another reason I prefer this concealer to the Collection offering. I have 'Light', but was super impressed to see that as well as a huge nude shade range, NYX also do this concealer in colours such as green to combat redness (definitely interesting in trying this!) and lavender to brighten skin. There is definitely something for everyone in this shade range.
I actually really like this concealer and would happily repurchase it. It covers redness easily, is easy to apply and the packaging is great. For £5.50 I really don't think you can go wrong!
What do you think? Have you tried any other concealers from NYX?
