Rimmel 'The Only 1 Matte' Lipstick ReviewWednesday, 8 March 2017 16:00
Rimmel have always been one of my go-to brands when it comes to great make-up at an affordable price. Last year I tried and reviewed their original 'Only 1' lipsticks here and found them to be a little hit and miss, depending on the shade, When I saw they had released a matte version of the formula I knew I had to try them, as the matte trend is certainly sticking around.
The shades I plumped for were 'Trendsetter' and 'High Flyer', as I wanted shades I could wear on a daily basis and that were appropriate for work and these looked like gorgeous nude tones.
The packaging is pretty much identical to the original formula, but they are red in colour with a matte finish (which doesn't attract fingerprints like the original packaging!). I love the shape of the lipstick itself, the flat top with round edge makes it easy to apply quickly and gives a clean line which can sometimes be difficult to achieve with other lipsticks.
'Trendsetter' is a brown-toned nude that seems to match my skin tone really well. I'm often scared to buy nude shades as they can be super tricky to get right, but I love this! I wear it so often for work. 'High Flyer' is more of a pinky nude that is really easy to take from day to night, depending on the rest of your look.

The formula is beautiful; the lipstick glides on and feel creamy, but has a gorgeous matte finish. Unlike many matte lipstick formulas, I don't find this one to be drying at all and it lasts a long time. I wear it for a full day of work and find it lasts all day, only wearing very slightly. I much prefer this formula to the original as it stays put, whereas I found the original bled a little around the edges.
For £6.99 each I think these lipsticks are a bargain and I'll certainly be picking up more shades!
What do you think? Have you tried any of the other shades?
